Child prodigy “Rock’n Rico” overcame his nerves when he destroyed “DJ Mike Wolf” 3-1 in a game that this rising star of the world backgammon circuit didn’t think he was going to win. Some were saying that “DJ Mike Wolf” was a little over confident and a little too cocky by dismissing “Rock’n Rico” as too young and inexperienced but “Rock’n Rico” sprung his trap very quickly to leave “DJ Mike Wolf” stunned and confused.
The next to fall was new comer “Bone Crusher” Stephen who never really stood a chance against “The Persian Tiger” when he was dismembered in a 4-0 defeat. The pundits are saying that, “Bone Crusher” Stephen, who learned his trade in Backgammon by touring the brothels of Argentina, is the one to watch and is still finding his feet as he adapts to the Northern Hemisphere style of playing that doesn’t include guns and knives.
The next win went to Jacqui, AKA “To Fu Tammy” when she made mincemeat of “The Quiet Man” by beating him 3-1. Some were saying that “The Quiet Man” was still on a bender after beating “The Body” in the last tournament and was a little under the weather and so was not at his best.
“The Persian Tiger” then pounced on Una AKA “Devil Woman” to beat her 3-0 despite her attempts to put him off his game by fluttering her eyelashes and complementing him on his new hair style.
A Backgammon first occurred as father and son came up against each other in the form of “Rock’n Rico” and “Big Bad John”. “Rock’n Rico” lost 3-0 to his dad, “Big Bad John”. Someone said that they heard “Big Bad John” threaten “Rock’n Rico” with a cut in pocket money and that he would be grounded for a week if he won. The tournament director was called in but nothing could be proven and so the 3-0 stood.
It was now time for the semi-final and the first to fall was “To Fu Tammy” who was eaten alive by “The Persian Tiger” 4-0.
In the other semi-final an epic battle went on against “Big Bad John” and “The Bull”. It was 2-2 when “Big Bad John” only had two counters left on his one point and “The Bull” had three counters left, two on his one point and one on his two point, “The Bull” laughingly quipped that he needed a double to win, he shook, he threw and out came a double 4 “Big Bad John” was stunned into silence when “The Bull” jumped up on the table and started dancing and singing then started taunting “Big Bad John” until security was called and the tournament director had to threaten “The Bull” with disciplinary action if he didn’t calm down.
The stage was set for a show down of epic proportions (or so we thought) as the final was going to be played out between “The Bull” and “The Persian Tiger”. These two rivals and former champions eyed each other up, grudgingly shook hands and commenced battle. Although “The Bull” managed to pull back a point “The Persian Tiger’s” deadly style of stalking his prey then sinking his claws in at the last minute prove too much for “The Bull” who was devastated when he lost 4-1.
Although “The Persian Tiger” won it was clear that “The Bull” is the one to watch in the future, this dashing young man from the wilds of West Cork will soon be performing his victory dance in the watering holes of Ireland as he leaves his mark (one way or another) and takes the Backgammon world by storm.
